Deep groove ball bearings are the most widely used type; they feature steel balls as rolling elements and are primarily designed to withstand radial loads, whilst also being capable of withstanding small amounts of axial loads in both directions. They have a low coefficient of friction, excellent limiting speeds, a simple structure and good interchangeability. They are available in a variety of designs, including open, single-sided sealed and double-sided sealed types. Sealed bearings are pre-lubricated with grease and are suitable for dusty environments. They do not possess strong self-aligning capabilities and are not suitable for applications involving significant shaft deflection. They are widely used in various general-purpose rotating support applications, such as electric motors, fans, gearboxes, pumps, general mechanical equipment and automotive components.
